When Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was one of the first players to opt out of the 2020 season, people noticed. That’s because Duvernay-Tardif is a medical doctor. And he’s been fighting the coronavirus on the frontlines and knows firsthand how dangerous it is. So there was never any doubt that other players would follow his lead no matter what decision he made. Now we’re seeing guys like Chance Warmack and De’Anthony Thomas also choosing to sit out. So it’s clear that more and more players are starting to think there’s too much risk involved. You also have to take a look at what’s happening with Major League Baseball. The Miami Marlins are having an outbreak and they had to cancel their home opener. If the NFL can’t avoid a similar disaster. Then we have to wonder if it’s worth putting people’s lives in jeopardy?
