The Vikings and Bears are both known for their defense. So you knew this matchup was going to be a defensive battle. Luckily for Minnesota they had the better quarterback. Kirk Cousins didn’t blow anyone away. But he definitely outshined Nick Foles. Part of that is because Cousins throws a better ball. He had to fit some of his passes in tight windows against Chicago. That’s not easy to do when Khalil Mack is trying to take your head off. Cousins also got some help from the weapons that are around him. Adam Thielen caught a couple touchdowns and showed that he’s still on the same page with Cousins. The other guy that came through for the Vikings was Justin Jefferson. The Bears didn’t have an answer for Jefferson and Cousins kept looking his way. That was the right decision with Jefferson constantly getting separation. Look there’s no doubt that Cousins has more help than Foles does. But Foles has lost five out of his last seven starts. So you can see why Cousins has been a full-time starter for the past several years. And why Foles has been a backup for the most part. This game really showcased that.
